I studied philosophy at Oriel College Oxford and Darwin College Cambridge, before writing my PhD - a treatment of the Knowledge Argument - at Birkbeck, London. First interested in the nature of phenomenal consciousness and the physicalist project to naturalise mind, my research has widened to examine the meaning and possibility of reductionism in general, questions concerning scientific realism, mereology, and associated issues in perception. Rejecting so-called epistemic approaches to such issues as obscurantist, I am developing an honest metaphysical framework aimed at capturing what philosophically informed common-sense tells us about the way mind and world are.
